Geographical location
Sikkim is a small mountain state in northeast India. Sikkim is located between 28°07′48″
and 27°04’46” north latitudes, and 88°00’58” and 88°55’25” east longitudes. It is bounded by Tibet on the north, Nepal on the west, Bhutan on the east and West Bengal lies to its south. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, Khangchendzonga (8586m). Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. Sikkim is a popular tourist destination, owing to its culture, scenery and biodiversity.
